In visualization therapy, or using guided imagery is a therapeutic technique that allows you to overcome long-standing obstacles and underlying issues in your life, envision the life you want to live, and then while working alongside a professional therapist, work towards having this mental image become your own reality.
Visualization therapy acts upon the basic premise that your own thinking has the ability to radically transform your attitudes and actions in the world. World-class athletes and concert musicians regularly utilize visualization therapy and visualization techniques to excel in their performances and events. I have used it in a therapeutic setting to cure a myriad of problems in my patients, including social anxiety, eating disorders, self-esteem issues, fear, stress, and depression. It can increase your confidence and enable you to achieve things that you never thought yourself capable of before,
How visualization therapy works
Visualization therapy works by us first identifying problems that need mending or improvement. Often these problems are deep rooted, and thus need to be explored in full. Next, with my help you will create a mental image or scenario of something you want to change or accomplish. Your mental image should include sense imagery of sight, smell, touch, hearing, and even taste. Then, by playing a created scenario over and over again in your head, you can use the time to practice and conquer whatever it is that you are afraid of, all without having to even open your eyes!
Visualization therapy can also be used as a way of changing your attitudes in life. For example, if through therapy we come to the conclusion you irrationally feel like bad things are always happening to you, we can implement visualization therapy as a way of reversing this. By imagining that good things are always happening to you, you can train yourself to becoming a more positive, optimistic person. Through the use of visualization therapy in tandem with modern therapeutic techniques, I can help you redefine the way you see your world for the better.
